Un juego basado en realidad aumentada orientado al aprendizaje de temas de Ciencias Naturales y Sociales

Este trabajo se enfoca en el estudio de la realidad aumentada (de ahora en más, RA) para escenarios educativos, y en su utilización para el diseño de un juego educativo vinculado al aprendizaje de temas de Ciencias Naturales y Sociales de nivel primario y secundario. Como parte del recorrido, se han estudiado los conceptos fundantes de la RA, su utilización en el escenario educativo, para luego analizar herramientas para el diseño de juegos con RA. El juego desarrollado se enmarca en un acuerdo de cooperación del III LIDI con la Subsecretaría de Gestión y Difusión del Conocimiento Programa Cultura Científica de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. En particular se desarrolla para la muestra itinerante “Ruta Darwin”. El juego Ruta Darwin (RD), es una aplicación móvil, que permite aumentar un mapa impreso que presenta el recorrido de Charles Darwin en su viaje a bordo del Beagle y el jugador debe completar un álbum de medallas a lo largo del itinerario que se propone. Desde el punto de vista educativo se enfoca en el descubrimiento de especies y fósiles (contenido vinculado a Ciencias Naturales), y en presentar a Darwin y a otros reconocidos personajes de la época (contenido vinculado a Ciencias Sociales). Fue evaluado con 47 estudiantes de una escuela de la región, donde se midió usabilidad. También fue presentado en el congreso TE&ET donde se aplicó una encuesta.Facultad de Informátic

An energy-saving model for service-oriented mobile application development

The development of mobile applications that combine Web Services from different providers --also referred as mashup applications-- is growing as a consequence of the ubiquity of bandwidth connections and the increasing number of available Web Services. In this context, providing higher maintainability to Web Service applications is a worth of matter, because of the dynamic nature of the Web. EasySOC (1) solves this problem by decoupling mashups from application components. However, mobile devices have energy constraints because of the limitations in the current battery capacities. This work proposes a model that builds on the benefits of the EasySOC approach and improves this latter by assisting developers to select Web Service combinations that reduce energy consumption. We evaluated the feasibility of the model through a case study in which we compare the estimations provided by the model against real energy measurements. Potencial energético de los bosques y costes de suministro para Soria, España

Soria is a forested province in Northern Spain. The utilization level of the forests in Soria is low at present, but it is predicted to rise in the future. Because of the high altitude, heating is also needed. These form a good basis for increasing the use of wood chips in energy production. In this study, a procedure to estimate the potential of wood chip from forests and their procurement costs was adapted to Spanish conditions. The harvesting potential was estimated to be between 140,000 m3 and 280,000 m3 in 2010, and to double by 2030. Cost-supply curves were provided to aid in the planning of heating plant investments. Compared to European cost levels, the procurement costs in Soria are not high.Soria es una provincia con gran tradición forestal situada en la mitad norte de España. Actualmente el nivel de cortas en los bosques de Soria es bajo aunque se prevé que aumente en el futuro. Al ser una provincia montañosa, de clima frío en invierno, el uso de calefacción es necesario durante bastantes meses al año. Esto hace que sea interesante incrementar el uso de astillas de madera para producir energía. En este estudio, se adaptó a las condiciones españolas un procedimiento para estimar fuentes de biomasa leñosa y sus costes de suministro. Se ha estimado un potencial de aprovechamientos para 2010 que oscila entre los 140.000 y 280.000 m3, y el doble para 2030. Se han utilizado curvas de coste de suministro para ayudar a planificar las inversiones en plantas de producción de calor. Ruta Darwin: un juego con realidad aumentada para conocer las experiencias de Charles Darwin en su travesía a bordo del Beagle

Ruta Darwin es un juego con realidad aumentada para dispositivos móviles. Se gesta a partir de un acuerdo de cooperación del Instituto de Investigación en Informática LIDI de la Facultad de Informática de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata con la Subsecretaría de Gestión y Difusión del Conocimiento, Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación de la provincia de Buenos Aires. En el marco de esta Subsecretaría se ha planificado la muestra itinerante “Ruta Darwin”, en la que se cuenta con diferentes paneles de información y con juegos, en relación al trabajo y el viaje de Darwin. Sin embargo, hasta el momento no se utilizaba tecnología digital, sino que se trataba de una muestra tradicional. Durante un semestre, se trabajó en conjunto con el equipo de la Subsecretaría, para analizar las posibilidades de aumentar un mapa impreso que presenta el recorrido de Charles Darwin en su viaje a bordo del Beagle. De esta manera, se elaboró un guión que rescata de los libros de Darwin, aspectos destacados de sus experiencias y observaciones durante la travesía. Se puso foco en el descubrimiento de especies y fósiles (contenido vinculado a Ciencias Naturales) y en su relación con reconocidos personajes de la época (contenido vinculado a Ciencias Sociales). Implementing Open Innovation in Research and Technology Organisations: Approaches and Impact

Research and development organisations (RTOs) are at the heart of innovation systems. They help to connect innovation system actors to foster industrial innovation. Due to this intermediary role, they act as paradigmatic open innovation (OI) actors. In this context, RTOs need to balance their knowledge stocks and flows, while assuring their own innovation capabilities and positively impacting the innovation system they influence. Thus, RTOs need to develop collaboration approaches that support their own performance while increasing their capabilities and not threatening their competitive advantages derived from their knowledge stock. In this study we extend the OI research to research organisations analysing their OI approach and the impact on its own performance, developing a new framework for OI study in RTOs using a partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) approach. The research, based on a sample of Spanish RTOs, arises two substantive conclusions. First, an increased number of collaboration partners (collaboration breadth) and the use of a variety of OI practices have a strong impact on RTOs’ overall performance (scientific, transference, and economic results). Second, RTOs need to foster their aperture and promote an active management to benefit from collaborating partners, whereas managers should pay special attention to questions related to the protection and management of intellectual property when promoting the use of different OI practices. Both results also emphasise the importance of managing firms’ knowledge flows in the implementation of OI in RTOs
